Hi! I’m Cecilia — an animal lover, an art enthusiast, and a communications professional and I'm so excited to share my journey here on the blog.

My background is in communications, and it has taken many shapes over the years. I’ve designed a season of my university’s magazine, helped local entrepreneurs figure out how to grow their businesses through better storytelling, managed social media for a friend’s social impact enterprise, and supported many small projects in between.
Today, I offer communications support to a variety of teams, helping them shape their messages, tell their stories, and amplify their impact. It’s been an ever-evolving journey, and I’ve learned something new with every season.
What a Typical Workday Looks Like
No two days are the same, which is something I really love! On most days, I’ll start by reviewing the companies we work with and listing tasks that need attention based on our calendar. That might mean following up on meetings, scheduling social media posts, writing reports, recording metrics, or brainstorming ideas for stories. Each day brings something different and always something to look forward to.
How My Role Has Grown
When I first started, I was nervous. I wasn’t sure if I’d be good enough. I didn’t want to mess up. I’ve always been a bit of a careful person. But with support, especially from Joelle, I’ve learned to lean in with confidence.
Little by little, I’ve taken on more responsibility, and I’ve grown into someone who is not only unafraid to try but also eager to plan better, learn more, and do things with excellence. Impostor syndrome still shows up occasionally, but I’ve come to love how my role continues to evolve and push me to grow creatively and professionally. I can't wait to see how I continue to grow!
A Project Close to My Heart
One project that makes me especially proud is the monthly social media content planning I do for a wildlife conservation organization. It involves researching, developing ideas, curating photos, and writing captions that help tell their story. It may seem small, but every time I see a post go up that I helped create, it fills me with joy. It’s a labor of love, one I cherish.
Why I Love What I Do
At the core of it all, I love that my work is purposeful. I’ve always hoped to contribute to causes that make a positive difference in the world. Communications allows me to do that, whether by telling stories, building systems, or creating strategies.
And I get to do so many different things! I might be writing, brainstorming, designing, or deep in conversation with a teammate. That variety and the sense of purpose behind it is what I enjoy most.
Staying Grounded and Motivated
Purpose keeps me grounded, but so does the environment I work in. Daily voice notes and check-ins with Joelle, filled with both personal updates and work discussions, help me feel connected and human in what we do. Her warmth and reminders that we’re people first make a big difference in how I show up. A healthy work environment is not something I take for granted. I feel incredibly blessed to be doing what I do with the people I do it with.
Life Outside Work
Outside of work, I’m a mix of random and subtle hobbies. I rescue animals when I can, participate in church activities, cook meals to share with my kind neighbor, and love watching plays at the theater. I’m also just starting to get the travel bug and I’m dreaming up some solo trips across Kenya. You could say I’m an artsy, adventurous girlie, and I’m owning it! And here’s something most people don’t know: I love snakes. Yep, I said it. Love them!
A Lesson That Stuck
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in this role comes straight from Joelle: “Slow and steady with consistency shows results.” That one phrase has changed how I approach everything. I’ve learned the value of intentional planning, clear communication, and showing up consistently. I’ve also discovered the magic in finding hidden stories and shaping how I share my own voice.
Whether it’s writing a caption that makes someone care, building systems that help others thrive, or just having a good laugh in a team voice note, I’m grateful for where I am — and excited about where this journey will go next. Thanks for being part of it.
